Hi All,
Things are tough at the moment and it could get worse, I have spoken to other members of the club and we have dis-sided at the moment that the club will stay open and we will monitor it week by week. The clay pigeon day will close NO CLAY SHOOTING until !!!!! As for the rifle shooting that is up to each member as I have said the range is open it is up to you. As for the law about you must attend we can forget that. So you do not have to be concerned, Because of the Virus the club rules about attendance will not be in place but safety on the range will be. As I have it is tough but we are responsible people. From Mark Williams and myself the hope is we all come out fighting fit and with our Family's and get back to our normal lives. My best regards to you all, Collon. Seasonal greetings to all !!!!!
The new calendar for the year is uploaded. So check your ammo and get out in the fresh air soon. See you all there. Having visited the range today I was very surprised at the condition of it following the bonfire party on Friday night.
Thank you to those who attended today's AGM - sadly I couldn't make it.
Just a few notes arising from the AGM to report : 1) It was decided that the club would buy another clay pigeon trap - the shot gun clay shoot days remain popular; 2) Membership subs would stay the same; 3) The entrance track / road would be repaired to a higher standard 4) And the appreciation for the butt repairs / upkeep was noted. Anyone who missed the meeting, but wishes to know more details please let me know. Hopefully next year more folks can make the AGM - it is YOUR chance to air YOUR opinion or make suggestions for the benefit of YOUR club. Anyhow, the weather should be getting warmer (soon) and I look forward to seeing you on the range. Regards. Very pleased to hear that the range has been cleared of the bonfire pile that was left in the way following the village party at the range during which they didn't have the bonfire !!!! A telehandler was organised and paid for by our club to reinstate the range to a state where we have a complete and unobstructed view of the butt. Thank you Collon. Hi, I'm a member of the Staffordshire Phoenix Rifle and Pistol Club, and MARS rifle owner. I hope you don't mind my contacting you, but I think that, even if none of your membership owns a MARS rifle and the current ban doesn't affect them, sooner or later some new piece of unnecessary legislation will be imposed upon us which will. I personally feel that the MARS and lever-release ban is not required, and that there is absolutely no justification for it (but then, I'm biased!)
Martin Osment is a lifelong shooter, and disabled. He relies on the MARS action to continue to enjoy target shooting. His arguments are reasonable and based on facts, the exact opposite of the government's justification for the ban. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/martin-osment He is raising funds to fight the government on their proposed MARS ban. Would you consider distributing info to the membership? It might only be MARS and lever-release rifles for now, but what will it be next? All the best Karl Hot off the press ............ our AGM date has been confirmed for April 14th 2019 at 12pm at the range.
The scheduled black powder shoot will happen first, so if you want to shoot this please arrive early...... If you have any matters you wish to raise at the AGM please let me know ASAP so I can inform the secretary to get it scheduled, or it can be raised in the "any other business" section towards the end of the meeting. All position of the committee are up for election, if yo wish to stand the please let me know. |
