Happy New Year to all.
The calendar is in the process of being updated and will soon be completed and online. In the mean time the January part is correct. See you all at the range soon. Hi to every one,
I have had an email from George asking me to let you all know that there will be NO clay pigeon shooting on Sunday the 27th because of the virus. We will up date you to what is happening as and when we know. Regards, Collon. Hi to your all,
Well, we are coming out of lock down again, but Devon is in tier two - not good, however Mark and I have spoken and we have decided to open the range again from the 6th December if you wish to go up and shoot. Restrictions are higher than when we came out of lock down the first time - WE MUST BE SAFE TO EACH OTHER AND SOCIAL DISTANCING A BIG MUST. This is the guidelines I have had from the NRA today - "In Tier 2 organised indoor sport is only permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with. Indoor range operators are encouraged to review existing Covid-19 risk assessment documents and supporting range operating procedures to comply with the new guidelines." Well I am sure we did our bit the first time and we must do it again. If you wish to go to the range to shoot it will as before - only three at a time. If three members are there shooting make your self known and wait your turn outside in your car and when a slot is available go in and shoot. This way everyone has a chance to shoot if they wish. You can email me if you have problem. Keep safe, keep smiling - there is light at the end of the tunnel. We hope you and yours have a great Christmas and a better New Year. Regards, Collon. More bad Covid news, and some saddening news.........."Hi every one,
Bad news, this dam virus has bitten us again. It is with great sadness that the law has said that as from Thursday the 5th of November 2020, until Wednesday the 2nd 2020 we will go into lock down again and it means that our club will not be able to shoot at the range between these dates how long after that I do not know we will keep you all informed. We must show that the Exmoor Rangers are responsible people and abide by the LAW. The closure to ALL CLUBS came from the Secretary General Andrew Mercia of the N.R.A. On Sunday the 26th the club committee had a meeting at the range to talk things over on where the club was going that was of course before we knew about the lock down, as we were there talking it was noticed that Brian Williams little plaque had been torn down by some LOW GRADE PERSON or PERSONS from the wall [we had the club notice board removed from the block house early in the year] but to remove Brian’s plaque goes beyond my words that I wish to print. Please as we all know someone out there in the shooting fraternity ask around and let me know if you get their name/names....... It was still on the wall on the 14-10-2020. and I will do my VERY BEST to get this low life off and their club the range . Back to the meeting.......... As our meeting normally goes it was quite quick - our insurance is due which this year is £981.25 which has now been paid. The club range rent is due which at the moment we are not sure on the cost but we are ready to pay. With costs in question we still have club members who are still not paying their membership on time and we have to chase them up to pay each year, This year we are not going to do this if any member has not paid by the 5th of DECEMBER THEY WILL BE IN DEFAULT, We then as a committee will decide what will happen. Payment is ease ask your bank to start a standing order to pay the EXMOOR RANGERS £70.00 on the 1ST of December the account number is 06861660, sort code 60-02-03 with NatWest the £70.00 is per member. PLEASE if you have any problems contact me or if you do not wish to contact me then speak or contact Mark Williams 01271 316845 or email him on [email protected]. We also have decided that there would be no AGM this year because of what is happening with virus, The same committee will stand on again for another year, If you do have any issues or problems just give me a call and we will do our very best to get it sorted. This has been a bad year, a number of members have not been to the range to shoot and if you are concerned that your name is not in the range book this will not be a problem as we all have been responsible club members and done our bit to help stop this virus both from catching it and spreading it to others, The police should be under standing in this matter when it comes to renewing your certificates. Regards keep safe and well, Mark Williams, & Collon, Early finish..........Short notice but the range will close at 1pm this coming Sunday 25th October.
This applies only for the Sunday.......... A bit of confirmation about "The rule of 6""Grouse shooting and hunting with guns in England are among outdoor activities exempted from the government’s “rule of six” coronavirus regulations.
Confirmation that the latest health protection regulations permit groups of up to 30 to take part in any “sports gathering” was published only minutes before coming into force. According to one report, an internal government row over whether bloodsports should be exempted was alleged to have delayed their release. Like its previous versions, the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (No. 2) (England) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020, was produced too late for most people to read it before they were subject to its legally enforceable rules. An accompanying government coronavirus guidance page provides clearer instructions on “what you can and can’t do” from Monday 14 September. It contains a list of sports and physical activities in which people can participate in groups of more than six. The list includes mainstream sports like football, rugby, cricket, and hockey as well as less popular sports such as curling, polo and shooting. The reference to shooting is the only one qualified with a note that says: “Including hunting and paintball that requires a shotgun or firearms certificate licence”. A link takes readers to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). In a statement on its website, BASC said: “The ‘rule of six’ restrictions brought in today could have disrupted game shooting which usually includes eight or more people. However, the exemption will allow shooting to operate under Covid-safe guidance.” Ian Bell, the organisation’s chief executive, said: “The government’s decision to allow shooting to continue in its current format in England is the right one.” A UK government spokesperson said: “We have exempted over 30 types of sport, exercise and physical activity such as football, rugby and other outdoor pursuits. “Outdoor activity is safer from a transmission perspective, and it is often easier to social distance. Where such activities take place, safety measures must be taken including conducting a risk assessment and compliance with Covid-19 secure guidance.”" Good news at last.....Today following a short committee meeting held socially distanced at the range we have decided it's time to allow members to go back to just turning up at range without booking a time slot to shoot.
However the rules of the range, and the rules of Covid still apply....... As normal, any question - you know who to contact..... Shoot safe, stay safe. Range reopeningRight, here goes........ Hopefully we have decided on a way to reopen the range to OUR members......... It has been decided as follows : As there is not enough room for all members to shoot at the same time (and keep 2 meters apart) this what has decided, as there are three fixed shooting benches on the range three members could shoot at the same time and still keep the 2m apart - Carl Thorne has been there and he suggested that dividing boards could be put up to keep members even safer when shooting. So to give all members a chance to shoot (if they want too that is) this is what we have come up with : "Members who wish to shoot should email me with a date and time when they would like to be there by Wednesday of the that week, we can then sort a rota out for that week and email them with their allotted times, To start with each member will get 1 hour shooting - that is 3 members per hour x 7 hours on a Sunday = 21 members per day x 3 weeks that give every one at least a chance, As for those who travel a long distance (Exeter etc.) they will get a 2 hour slot because of the distance traveled. I know that not every one shoots regularly so that will mean there will be more hours that are more hours available so other members can shoot longer....... As for the 4th week of the month that could be for clay shooting as we now are allowed to do this too....... as we would mix with max. 6 people at a time, keep 2 meters apart and shoot clays down range this will not be a problem..........." Any questions regarding this arrangement please email me here, anything else just use the contact page as normal. Stay safe........ A letter from the secretary addressed to all......
Hi every one, I have been asked by some members is and when will the club open. As far I know some clubs ie Bisley camp is opening which have limited spaces booked in advanced, their clay shooting is open but again keeping to the stick distancing rules and I think in law we could. But how can we open and keep the safe distant between one another at Parracombe. The clubs shooting space is so small we can not stay save, Three members would be the maximum at any one time. With that in mine how would some be able to shoot and others cannot we all pay our dues and I do not think some member can go and others cannot. If we did a rota some this week some next week who is go to police it with over 50 members it will be very difficult. If members think because the club is in an open space it is safe I think they are wrong. Other clubs use the range we have a lot of hard surfaces and we have a lot of older members in our club including me. Just to go and fire at a paper target is it worth spreading the virus even more or wait a couple of more weeks and then go back. Yes we will open and get back to normal but let us be there safe and well for each other and be able to tell our stories and have a good laugh together. I am only the secretary we all have a say in the running of the club!!!!! Regards to you all keep safe, Collon. |
